Saturday, May 3. 2008 - Interlaken

First of all – thank you for all your “comments” - they are greatly appreciated.

It’s 10:30 and I just arrived in Interlaken, beautiful sunny sky, warm weather (this is the first day that I’ve been able to wear short pants) and the first Internet Café that I have found. When I started out on Thursday morning it was cloudy but not raining as I started ascending the Etzel pass it began to rain and by the time I reached the top I was soaking wet. Peddling up at the steepest part I asked myself – why for god’s sake are you not laying in your warm bed girl?… When I finally got to the top the sun started shining an the descent (well it’s not all a descent as some of you seem to think – with 10 KG of saddle bags every hill seemed like a mountain L. I arrived in Einsiedeln… as well as hundreds of other tourists (1. May) just in time to get my first stamp in the pilger book. From there I rode to Hagenegg and just at the bottom of the Hagenegg they told me that I would not be able to go over the pass because there is still too much snow and it’s closed. Mh….. so what do I do now?… I went to back to Einsiedeln(freezing cold because of the wind going down) and decided to be lazy and take the train to Schwyz. Well that was an adventure…. Not able to be lazy because I had to change the train 3 times and you know what my bike is so dam heavy too heavy to lift into the train L…. Well in the end I found people to help me.
Finally in Schwyz I continued to Brunnen and then from there to Buochs with the ferry and continued to Stans where I stayed the night. It was so late by the time I got there, lucy to find a room I dropped dead into my bed… (Unfortunately I did not even have any energy to phone you Regula).
On Friday 2. May, I was off at 08:00 and followed the "Pilgerweg" until Oberried in Kanton Bern. The way was beautiful but one things for sure… the Pilgerweg is not always meant for bikes (with luggage bags) and for a good part of the day I was no faster than a pilger (4.5 KmH). The route was often very narrow, steep and wet. This morning I continued on the “Pilgerweg” to Interlaken, we have sunny skies and there seems to be some kinda Roles Royce and Bentley festival going on. Say at least 100 old and new Roles Royce’s and Bentleys. Imagine this.. the first lady that I asked gave me the directions to an Internet coffee! Now if that’s not lucky J. Ok… that’s all for now, I’m off direction Fribourg……..
